Missing Nunavut student found dead in Kingston

The body of Ken Kilabuk was found Saturday on the shore of the Cataraqui River near the downtown Kingston, Ont.

.–The body of Ken Kilabuk was found Saturday on the shore of the Cataraqui River near the downtown Kingston, Ont.

Kilabuk, a Nunavut man, was last seen the night of Oct. 15 and was reported missing. He had been  attending St. Lawrence College.

Police issued media releases pleading for assistance and posters were put up across downtown.

Police had said they worried for his safety.

Kilabuk’s body was spotted by a passerby at approximately 5:15 p.m. on Saturday in the area of Anglin Bay, behind the provincial courthouse at 279 Wellington St.

Family members were called and confirmed the body was Kilabuk. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday in Ottawa.

Police continue to investigate the cause of death.

Investigator are also appealing for tips from the public especially the circumstances of the night and early morning of Oct. 15.
