The federal government is taking aim at health providers allegedly involved in abuses of the non-insured health benefits program.
That program provides health benefits to First Nations and Inuit people not covered by provincial or private health plans.
Documents obtained through the Access-to-Information Act show that several pharmacies and First Nation health centres across the country are under investigation and in some cases the RCMP have been called to investigate.
At least of two of those cases involve First Nations in the Maritimes.
