The federal government is revising their plans for the Nanisivik research station on Baffin Island in Nunavut.
Nanisivik was originally proposed in 2007, when debate about Canada’s Arctic sovereignty was in full force. Now, the project has been scaled back dramatically, and one MP is saying it was little more than political opportunism to begin with.
