RCMP have been unable to locate two suspects wanted for three homicides in B.C. after the pair abandoned and burned a vehicle outside a northern Manitoba town.
So they are pulling some officers out of York Landing and re-focusing their efforts on finding Kam McLeod, 19, and Bryer Schmegelsky, 18, around Gillam, said York Landing First Nation Chief Leroy Constant.
“Emergency response team have conducted an extensive ground search in York Landing & surrounding areas and have not located the suspects with assistance from Canine Units, Helicopters, Hercules Aircraft, Drones & RCMP Boat Patrol,” Constant posted on his Facebook page.
“Emergency Response Team will head back to Gillam and develop a plan moving forward. Major Crime Unit has also left the community.”
After a thorough & exhaustive search, #rcmpmb has not been able to substantiate the tip in York Landing. RCMP resources will continue to be in the York Landing & Gillam areas.

Constant said members of Bear Clan Patrol, safety volunteers who travelled up from Winnipeg, will remain in the community.
It was those volunteers who first alerted police about two men matching the suspects’ descriptions on Sunday. They said they saw them rummaging in the community’s landfill.
