Some students left out of Indian Day School settlement speaking out

Some students who were sent to Indian day schools are speaking out after being left out of a massive settlement that was approved this summer.

The federal court approved a class action settlement for survivors of these schools that were run by Canada.

That settlement will cost the federal government billions of dollars – bigger than the residential school settlement.

More than 130,000 people who went to 720 schools across Canada could be eligible for compensation.

But some students are being left out.

  1. Darlene Chocan says:

I was told I couldn’t claim for the Day School Settlement, because I received a settlement for Independent Assessment Process (IAP). I find that unfair, I never thought that there would be a Day School Settlement back when I signed the form. I felt that I had no other choice than to sign the document.

  2. Sixties scoop and forced to go to a chritian school. Do I qualify for day school compensation
