A two-spirit cultural camp in Saskatchewan is giving people an identity-safe and welcoming space to learn traditional knowledge and ways on the land.

About 500 kilometres north of Saskatoon, 40 people gathered this week for a fourth annual two-spirit cultural camp, where non-binary participants and allies are learning elements of Indigenous cultures in a positive environment.

Participants are paired up with knowledge keepers like Marjorie Beaucage, who says 2SLGBTQQIA youth often struggle in the city and benefit from time on the land.

“This land is beautiful and it’s full of medicines and all kinds of good things,” she said.
