The head of Quebec’s provincial police force is testifying at the Val d’Or inquiry set up because of actions of his officers.

Martin Prud’homme, who is currently on leave from being the head of the Surete du Quebec to act as interim chief of the Montreal police, attended the Quebec Inquiry to respond to allegations that some of his officers abused Indigenous women in Val d’Or, 525 kilometres northwest of Montreal.

The inquiry, which has been examining the relationship between some of Quebec’s public agencies and Indigenous peoples, is coming to an end soon.
