Manitoba Wildlife Federation calls on government to tighten fishery policy – Indigenous fishers aren’t so sure it’s needed

Members of the Manitoba Wildlife Federation rallied in Winnipeg Tuesday in the hopes that the provincial government will clamp down on quotas handed to commercial fishers on Lake Winnipeg.

They say if things don’t change, some fish populations will continue to decline.

But commercial Indigenous fishers who make up about a quarter of the commercial fishery say tightening quotas is not needed.

    If MWLF, wants lobby the governments to tighten regulations, they fuckn start by imposing regulations within the farming industry with all the poison they use !!
