Police seek information in suspicious death of Alberta woman

RCMP in central Alberta are seeking tips as they investigate the death of Lindsay Marie Jackson, 25.

The young widow was reported missing on Sept. 22; then her body recovered from the North Saskatchewan River on Oct. 3 near the hamlet of Duvernay, Alta.

“She has four kids she left behind and a big family – a mom and dad and two brothers,” said her cousin Andrea Jackson.

“Lindsay had a lot of people that loved her.”

RCMP did not reveal the cause of death in a statement released Friday.

They said the Major Crimes Unit – North was working the case with St. Paul RCMP and the Forensic Identification Section.

Andrea said Lindsay lost her husband and older brother in the same fatal motor vehicle collision in 2015.

“She used laughter to deal with that tragedy. She had an audacious sense of humour,” Andrea added in a telephone interview.

“She was an all around funny girl…Everyone gravitated to her.”

Lindsay was from Saddle Lake Cree Nation and also spent time in Edmonton.

RCMP spokesman Cpl. Ron Bumbry said she was last seen at a residence in Saddle Lake on Sept. 22 and “there was a general concern for her safety and well-being.”

Her father, Barry Bernard, expressed confidence in the two police investigators he had met.

“They really showed initiative; they wanted to help,” he said from his home Friday.

Mom Shelley Jackson said the last two weeks were hard without texts or Facebook posts from Lindsay.

“I still wish I could see my daughter,” she said.

The family was together in Saddle Lake Friday afternoon and planned to visit the Sandro Bridge over the river, as a way to remember Lindsay.

“I loved her laugh,” said her brother Andrew Jackson. “We all loved her.”

Her other brother, Raymond Jackson, said Lindsay was known for cracking people up with funny catch phrases.

He said it gave them all some comfort thinking she was now reunited with her husband, whom she badly missed.
