Child welfare was at the heart of the discussions at the National missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls inquiry hearings Monday in Winnipeg.
The location for these hearings seemed fitting – Manitoba has the highest apprehension rates in Canada.
And it’s an issue that commissioners say they’ve heard across the country.
