The largest Indigenous police force in Canada went before the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls hearings Monday talking about the struggle its officers have doing their jobs.

The Nishnawbe Aski Nation police patrols communities in northern Ontario including Kashechewan and Attawapiskat.

NAN officers often don’t have the same resources other police forces have at their disposal to help service communities and back up their members.

Officials with the force are in Quebec City where the inquiry is hearing testimony related to the criminal justice system.
