Chiefs tell Ottawa to slow down Indigenous rights negotiations

Chiefs at a special rights forum hosted by the Assembly of First Nations in Gatineau, Que., across the river from Ottawa spoke with a single voice in telling the Trudeau government that it must slow the process to enact its inherent rights framework.

The federal government says it wants to bring in legislation called Recognition and Implementation of Indigenous Rights Framework in the fall.

But many feel the negotiations are being run from the top down rather from the communities themselves.

On Wednesday morning, the Chiefs of Ontario announced that it would not support the process and called for a “hard reset.”

Team Trudeau wants to ram this through, just like the Transformer Mountain Magic Pipeline that is 65 year’s old built in 1953 when they were still using Steam Locomotives on Canada’s Railroads! Justin Trudeau bought a Pig in a Poke, with No Ultra-Sonic-Pigging Data to verify the integrity of the aged infrastructure!
The NEB failed by NoT Issuing De-Commision Orders decades ago!

Trudeau is trying his best to look good for all the wrong doings he’s done to First Nations and the non-work he promised on his platform. He had us indigenous people on side (not me) to get him elected but that honey-moon faded a while ago. Now he has to try win back the allies vote too who left him because of his non-alliance with indigenous people. Good luck, Prime Colonist Trudeau!!!!

This needs to be done right and all FN’S ppls across Canada need a input and say what dictates our future and our future generations. As far as I can see Pierre Trudeau wrote the white paper what makes his son trustable in regards to the well being of our ppl.
