Protesters condemn planned nuclear waste disposal facility near Ottawa River

Demonstrators gathered in downtown Ottawa Wednesday morning in protest of a planned nuclear waste disposal facility.

As APTN‘s Todd Lamirande reports, the Chalk River facility would bury “low-level” nuclear waste near the Ottawa River.

But protesters are treating the proposed facility like a horror show.

  1. Dave Taylor says:

This “pathetic policy” of the federal government has to change or the next generations of Canadians will be sorting through the raidioactive rubble which will be leaking into the Ottawa and Winnipeg rivers. The CNSC has an obligation to Canadians to condemn these short-sighted plans by this foreign consortium. Water is sacred.

  3. Good luck stopping this project. We protested the one by Swan Hills Alberta. They still built it. Now most if not all people from my community are dying from some form of Cancer. Since they built it near water resources almost all deaths north of the facility are Cancer related. Get organised and stop this project from becoming reality. For your own good. And your childrens.
