Winnipeg family whose 4 year old son needs transplant is getting the word out

Ashley Brandson
A Winnipeg family is in need of a transplant for their young son and are now spreading the word for more Indigenous people to become donors.

Tanner McLeod is four and a half years old and has a rare blood disorder.

“He has been diagnosed with a rare form of anemia,” said mom Miranda McLeod. “They call it sideroblastic anemia. Apparently, there’s very few Manitoban’s that have been diagnosed with it.”

They learned of the boy’s condition when he was six-months-old.

He goes for regular blood transfusions every three weeks.

It’s an all-day process that starts with getting needles at nine o’clock in the morning.

I tweeted it out to my account. A few famous entertainers follow me and will take notice. I hope they RT it to help Tanner.

Given the seriousness of this issue don’t you think that a properly written article it would explain what they are seeking for transplant; what organ?
Aptn generally delivers very high-quality stories with great journalism but they really dropped the ball on this one.
It should actually be in the tag or headline

I would be interested but I live in chronic pain so I take tylenol 4’s, slow release morphine 15 mg. and diazepam 10 mg. three to four times s day depending on my pain that day…the tylenol 4’s have 60 mgs.of codeine and I take those 2 at a time so some days I’m taking 8 to 10 of them daily the least I take daily might be six but I also go in for blood work yearly and they say everything else in my body is fine except for my back which is why I’m in chronic pain.
