Dry communities in NWT not ready for legalized pot says Elder

An Elder who has been researching the health implications of marijuana says dry communities in the Northwest Territories (NWT) are not ready for it to be legalized.

Norman Yakeleya is from the dry community of Tulita, NWT, a fly-in community 2 hours northwest of Yellowknife.

The territorial government has said that communities will have the power to decide for themselves whether to allow members to have pot.

Yakeleya is also a former member of the legislative assembly.

He said the research he has done shows the NWT isn’t ready for the legalization of cannabis that is expected next year.

This was a waste of a report. I’m against this legalization and you failed to create awareness of why people shouldn’t just look at this as harmless because it’s not!
