It is funny to think that the mayor wanted an integrity commissioner to stop leaks and thought nothing of the police chief leaking information.

“In my former profession, we had many layers of oversight and I think council needs oversight as well,” he said prior to the council meeting on Monday night. “We have had leaks to the media before and I’m very concerned about that. I want that to stop. Right now there’s no accountability in that regard as well. So if there’s a confidential issue that gets to someone else or to the media, we have to have controls on that. We have to have disciplinary procedures if that happens.”

  5. Did anyone question why Superior court justice Warkentin from the northwest region is presiding over this case….was a judge from another district not allowed to sit on this case.Especially when the case is to be tried by judge alone, the optics are not so good!

    1. Speaking of optics….. In February of this year J P Levesque appointed recently retired Andy Hay to act as an adjudicator at police services act hearings….how cozy!

Good thing Mr.Hay is testifying at Mr.Levesque’s trial…. no perceived bias there ?????

    2. Maybe Thunder Bay police services are providing a new public service by informing people allegedly breaking the law that they are being investigated. I wonder if they charge for this service?
The police board chair and the deputy police chief did nothing when they found out that the police chief may have compromised an investigation.
      Heads should roll!
