  1. Juanita Eugene says:

having a little bit of trouble balancing my head and my heart stuff lately, hugs for us all.

  2. Over fifty years ago I was taken from my Native family and grew up alone in an all ‘white’ world, not knowing who I am; except that I was told that I was ‘Indian’ and treated as such. With absolutely no guidance or help I have at great personal and financial sacrifice pieced together some documents which attest to who I am. Today this information rests with INAC’s Registrar to determine whether I am a status Indian or not.

And so, to think that a settlement might hinge on survivors obtaining their Indian status, as I know firsthand how difficult it has been for me to obtain the necessary documents that are required to prove to others of my stolen life; leaves me speechless.

  3. Another chapter how the Canadian government has continue destroying the family circle. Our voices should be able to speak and hear at the table.

  4. How about the people having the brains to refuse to agree to it, they can not make you accept this and as DRIPS allows you to INDIVIDUALLY NEGOTIATE DO THAT IT IS YOUR UN RIGHT UNDER TREATY TO DO SO! ; )

  6. I would like to know, what will happen to all of us that are not treaty or status? No recognition or making family or community connections and I guess we will all be left behind and continue to be forgotten.

    1. It is a way of the federal government, not to pay everyone at this time. Sneaky way. But it will happen once you apply for your status, so why does the government want to bring on more damage to the non registered . Because the government will delay or give excuses not to give you your STATUS. Under the charter of rights. This is unconstitutional. It violates are rights. They broke a law, and now trying to find ways not to pay us all. If they start to exclude people then they have created a bigger genocide. Which I mean by bigger, is that they have excluded ones who have not applied or have applied for there status. If you going to do it . DO IT THE RIGHT WAY INSTEAD OF EXCLUDING . THEY REALLY SHOULD DO IT THIS WAY . INCLUDE ALL AND WHEN YOU COMPENSATE GIVE THEM THERE STATUS. THAT IS THE PROPER WAY TO DEAL WITH IT. SO WE CAN ALL HEAL. IN BE IN PEACE WITH THE UNIVERSE .
