It’s an event organized to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary – a dazzling display of Indigenous art and culture is now being showcased at the Kanata Festival in Vancouver, British Columbia.

“I think it’s really important to come here and show the diversity of Indigenous people and Indigenous traditions in Canada,” said writer and dancer, Anahi Palomec McKenna from the Shuswap Nation. “To be able to share that with some that may not even realize how diverse First Nations people are.”

The festival is an initiative of the Vancouver Native Housing Society.

The group has been working on the project since 2016.
