The shovels are in the ground, and demolition has begun.
That means a controversial $1.2 billion redevelopment on the outskirts of downtown Ottawa is underway.
Known as Zibi, it promises to provide jobs for members of Algonquin First nations.
And that was a big part of the message at a news conference Thursday.
