Standing Rock InFocus: Why peaceful resistance can be the most powerful force

Live exchanges over how the US Army Corps and Dakota Access are reacting and how the Oceti Sakowin camp won’t budge

APTN InFocus with Cheryl McKenzie

It started with a call to stop an oil pipeline from crossing the Missouri River but has now grown into something far more enormous than almost no one could have predicted…

And the movement is still growing to protect against the threat of poisoning the drinking water of over ten million people downstream.

In this live edition, guests share their perspective on the events at Standing Rock to stop the North Dakota Access Pipeline.

The people at the Oceti Sakowin camp, just outside of the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation, have so far stood their ground against increasing pressure from politicians and violent enforcement of the rule of law from police.

After witnessing this militarized reaction, thousands of Veterans are planning to peacefully stand in solidarity with the Water Protectors.
