‘I’ve never seen it like this’: Iqaluit residents deal with impacts of record-breaking July rainfall

Nunavut is often called an Arctic desert, there just isn’t much rain in the Arctic.

July has been different.

In an average July, Iqaluit receives 52 millimetres of rain.

So far this month, they’ve received 117 millimetres — 47 millimetres of that came down Thursday alone.
