Cree versus Cree in land claim battle

Mushkegowuk Council challenging Quebec Crees’ claim over territory

APTN National News
The Grand Council of the Crees in Quebec recently announced it would be suing the federal and Ontario government.

The lawsuit is seeking rights and title to 48,000 square kilometres of land south of James Bay and west of the Ontario-Quebec border.

That’s not going over well with the Muskegowuk Council in Northern Ontario. The Mushkegowuk Council believes its Cree communities are the ones with right to the land and will put up a political and legal fight to protect it, if necessary.
