Face to Face
On tonight’s Face to Face, Dr. Niigaanwewidam Sinclair, a Professor and the Department Head for Native Studies at the University of Manitoba, speaks about recent calls to require university students to learn about indigenous peoples and history as part of earning their degree, no matter what that degree is. Prof Sinclair tells us how he hopes this education will impact Canada’s future and its relationship with indigenous peoples.
He also delves into how recent changes and actions within Indigenous communities are affecting Canada’s politics, both at the federal and provincial levels. We’ll also discuss how small “c” conservative principles may speak to Indigenous interests and how such bridges have been ineffectively used by conservative parties to attract Indigenous voters.
