Patrick Brazeau enrolled in university, sets next court date on alleged Senate fraud: reports

APTN National News
Suspended senator Patrick Brazeau has a preliminary hearing set for next June in the alleged Senate fraud scandal but his lawyer says the Algonquin man is also focused on something else.

Brazeau’s lawyer Christian Deslauriers told reporters Monday Brazeau is enrolled at a university, but wouldn’t say what school he is attending, the program or who is paying.

Brazeau is expected be finished with his studies for his preliminary hearing which is set for June 1, 2015 on charges of fraud and breach of trust relating to expenses paid to Brazeau the RCMP allege he wasn’t supposed to collect.

Brazeau was suspended in February 2013 after he was charged with assault and sex assault in a domestic incident.

The Senate also later stripped him of his pay, along with fellow suspended senators Mike Duffy and Pamela Wallin, last November.

Brazeau was charged with the Senate fraud and breach of trust in the spring, while Duffy was charged this past summer relating to expenses.

Wallin is reportedly under RCMP investigation.
