Patrick Brazeau charged with assault, uttering threats and cocaine possession

Patrick Brazeau has been charged with allegedly assaulting a woman and man, uttering threats, possession of cocaine and breaching his bail conditions resulting from a different alleged attack on woman a year ago.

Police said they were called to a residence in Gatineau at about 4 a.m. for a domestic situation.

Brazeau was arrested and taken to the Gatineau police cellblock andlater transfered to court where pleaded not guilty to five criminal charges.

“The female was complaining about being assaulted by the man, and we are talking domestic violence in that case, so immediately the police officer arrested (Brazeau) on the balcony,” said Gatineau police spokesman Pierre Lanthier. “On the man we found white powder, it might be cocaine, but it has to be analyzed first so it might be cocaine.”

Outside of the residence where Brazeau was arrested was what’s believed be his belongings dumped on the ground, such as clothes, a computer hard drive and personal photos of him. A bag of marijuana was also seen among the items.

Brazeau was recently charged with fraud stemming from the Senate expense scandal where he’s accused of filing expenese he’s didn’t incur.

Brazeau and two fellow senators, Pamela Wallin and Mike Duffy, were suspended by the Senate as part of improper expenses. The RCMP investigations into Duffy and Wallin continue. Retired senator Mac Harb was also charged.

Breazeau still faces charges of sex assault and assault on a woman stemming form a February 2013 incident.

Police said he may have breached his release conditions Thursday morning.

Brazeau is actually scheduled to be in court Friday as part of the sex assault charge.

Brazeau recenlty got a job as a day manager at an Ottawa strip club.
