Delia Opekokew holds many firsts for an Indigenous woman.

Opekokew was the first First Nations woman to be called to the bar in Ontario.

She was the first woman to run for national chief of the Assembly of First Nations and most recently the only First Nations, Inuit or Metis woman to ever win the Law Society of Upper Canada medal.

APTN’s Donna Sound has the story.
