A traditional man in northern Alberta is claiming the RCMP tore apart his sweatlodge, accusing him of being a drug dealer.
The man says he’s done nothing wrong and wants the harassment to stop.
As APTN’s Keith Laboucan found out, the chief and council of his reserve aren’t so sure who to believe.
Mr. Whiskeyjack diverted the issue about illegal drug selling into an issue of disrespect against “tradition”. There is nothing traditional about exploiting broken spirits and plaguing a wonderful community with illegal drugs, which his sons were arrested for. Its so unfortunate when “tradition” is USED to gloss over a deep illusion; an illusion that the leadership knows and should be preventing and deal with!
The sons were young strong workable men who did not grew up in the community, who relied on social service, yet had nice new trucks that you see in front of the home. Using “tradition” is disrespectful and so NOT TRADITIONAL.
