The Phoenix Sinclair inquiry continued Tuesday.

There was emotional testimony by her step-brothers and their mother who eventually told child services of abuses the five-year-old girl was facing.

Phoenix was murdered by her mother Samantha Kematch and her boyfriend Karl McKay in 2005. At birth she was taken by child services only to be returned. She was killed shortly after and buried in a shallow grave.

She would have been 13-years-old today.

Kematch tried to cover up her daughter’s death by telling people she was back in foster care or with relatives.

The inquiry is looking into what happened and if anything can be learned from the little girl’s death.

APTN’s Ntawnis Piapot has the story.
