APTN National News
A small town in rural Manitoba has been put on the map.

But it is not for something that many people in the town are proud of.

Derogatory comments about Aboriginal people that appeared in an editorial by the local newspaper have garnered a lot of attention.

APTN National News reporter Karen Gott has this story.

Today we found out that Harper has a whopping 1,500 trolls and shills writing for him in media comments sections! That’s good news in a way because it means most of that ugly racism and propaganda on there is bought and paid for! This video interview with regular everyday Canadians show that we’re not racist people, for the most part we’re laid back, easy going with open hearts and open minds. Many of us are just now starting to learn about the years of lies about First Nation peoples that we’ve all been fed.

enough racism and discrimation to indiginous people of Canada. We need to individually educate the public about the truth. the truth has to come out from FN. Canadian History books needs to be retracted as its all lies. First Nations people need to start coming up with our own solutions and not be dictated to by the Canadian Government. But never abolish the fudiciary responsibility initial treaty. We need to keep the crown to its words.

Im amazed that this newspaper, if i could call it that, more like a RAG paper. In this day and age, nobody should be subjected to such nonsense, TERRORISTS we are not. This paper should retract these comments and offer an apology to the First Nations, or legal action should be an option to be considered. This sounds like an early attempt to discredit the First Nations, and turn the general public against what we stand for in our protests. What a pity.

capitalism and colonialism are unrealistic. where will moniyaws be when they have consumed all the trees, animals, plants and water and made enemies of all the brown people with their racism?

Sue them. Take them to court and make an example that we as Canadians are so sick of this racism against others living in our society. They have a responsibility as a news source to report comments that are free of discrimination and racism. That needs to stop here in Canada. It’s pathetic how some people are I also pity their children and grandchildren who have to live with such racism in their lives. Not a good example.

Native expectations “unrealistic”? Is it “unrealistic” to oppose a government which has removed almost all our rivers and lakes from environmental protection and has left us ALL vulnerable? Morris Mirror: what planet is your editor from? My endless gratitude to Chief Spence, to whom I sent flowers, and to all Idle No More organizers and participants. Migwitch.

I felt it as one of my duties as a Canadian (a First Nations one) that the editorial you posted most recently in your paper, is one that incites and promotes racism. You can see the story here that is showing the rest of Canada, if not the world how norrow minded your editorials have become.

I hope you take time to educate yourself as opposed to promoting hatred and inaccurate stories…
