Several Killer whales trapped in the ice about a mile from Inukjuaq, on the eastern shore of Hudson Bay Wednesday, have been freed.

The whales gathered around a small hole in the ice to get air but apparently were freed due to shifting winds overnight.

It was estimated 12 of the whales were trapped.
