An Edmonton police officer has been suspended without pay for Tasering a teenaged First Nation boy.

Const. Mike Wasylyshen was convicted last month of using excessive force for Tasering then 16-year-old Randy Fryingpan eight times in a span of 68 seconds on Oct. 5, 2002.

Wasylyshen was then suspended this week for 120 hours without pay.

The presiding officer at Wasylyshen’s hearings called his actions an “embarrassment to policing” and abuse of power.

Fryingpan’s mother had fought for justice since the crime happened.

In BC, they taser tiny and young moms WHILE the mom is holding her baby. They call this “child protection.”
