What identifies a person as Metis?

And what rights are they entitled to in Canada?

That’s what the Senate committee on Aboriginal peoples is trying to find out.

The Senators have just begun their tour of Western and Northern Metis communities.

APTN National News reporter Meagan Fiddler has this story.

  1. Pay very close attention to who is behind all this in the first place. There are REAL Metis’ and then there are those who are put in place for other reasons. Kanada has MADE Metis out of EVERY other Nation, which may be somewhat correct, but it still is NOT right. This STATUS and NON-STATUS stuff has been screwed up and it is the Canadian Corporation form of Government that has done it, but it will be the PEOPLE who will pay for it. Listen, for many years Natives have been trying to resolve issues like these yet the Governments turn it around to make it look like it is the Native’s causing it. Well, heads up, it WAS made this way via Laws and Bills by the Governments, not the Natives.
