Quebec tries to make amends for Nunavik sled dog slaughter

A half century ago, sled dogs across Nunavik were slaughtered at the request of the provincial government.

The killings still impact those communities today.

On Aug. 8, the provincial government acknowledged the impacts that slaughter had on the people there and gave $3 million to Makivik to settle the Nunavik dog slaughter dispute.
