The future of Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations Grand Chief Guy Lonechild is hanging by a thread.

Lonechild hid a drunk driving charge from chiefs before they elected him to lead the organization. He has since pleaded guilty.

Now it will be up to chiefs to decide his future this week during a winter assembly.

Lonechild has already lost the support of the FSIN senate, which is made up of former chiefs and politicians.

The senate, however, can’t dethrone Lonechild, it will be up to the chiefs.

According to the organization’s rules, 25 chiefs are needed to trigger a vote of non-confidence.
