It was a day that two police officers with the Nishnawbe Aski police force will never forget.

David Nakogee and Claudius Kooses were on duty when a fire tore through their broken down detachment in Kashechewan.

The blaze took the lives of two prisoners and forever changed the lives of the officers involved.

They’ve never spoken to the media about what happened.

Now Nakogee and Kooses sit down with APTN National News reporter Wayne Roberts to walk back to that dark day.

  1. This story is heartbreaking I send my sympathies to the families of the 2 inmates who passed away and the officers who saw this you have my sympathies also and shame on who ever failed the officers and the two inmates they DID NOT deserve to pass away like that no one does and no officer should have to see such nightmarish things the station SHOULD have been updated or a new one built, again MY SYMPATHIES to the INMATES and the officers if they had been non aboriginal inmates or officers this maby would not have happened and I myself am a non aboriginal person and I take offense over this story they had hundreds of thousands if not millions for the former governor general’s residence but not a dime to update the station shame on the government,I Will pray for the men who passed away and for the families, and for the health of the officers,
