Crown says man should be convicted of Monica Jack’s murder based on alleged confession

A man charged with murdering 12-year-old Monica Jack in British Columbia over 40 years ago went on trial Monday.

Crown prosecutor Mark Sheardown outlined the case against Garry Handlen saying he should be found guilty after confessing to undercover police that he abducted, sexually assaulted and killed her.

Sheardown told jurors Handlen also took police to the crime scene and provided details about snatching the girl while she was riding her new bike near Merritt, in the province’s Interior.
