Ovide Mercredi received an honourary doctorate from the University of Manitoba Thursday in Winnipeg.
The former national chief of the Assembly of First Nations was among a number of dignitaries at the convocation.
Mercredi’s message to the graduates is that you don’t have to lose yourself just because you get an education.
