Why is the Barton-Gladue case so important?

APTN News
A number of organizations plan to argue before the Supreme Court of Canada Thursday in the case of Bradley Barton.

The Ontario truck driver was acquitted in the 2011 death of Cindy Gladue, a First Nations woman from Alberta.

But several groups with standing to intervene in the case say Barton should be retried.

APTN News reporter Justin Brake says these groups believe the case is important for Canada’s sexual assault laws.

Right!? One of the questions they ask women in the jury selection process is “have you ever been sexually assaulted?” If you have they assume bias….do they ask the men if they’ve ever sexually assaulted someone!? If they did I doubt they would answer truthfully. A jury of your peers REALLY does mean just that, men being excused of their actions by other men.
