There was mixed reaction the Federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau’s announcement that Canada is buying the Trans Mountain expansion project for a whopping $4.5 billion.
Some are applauding Trudeau’s commitment to jobs and the economy.
While others say he is ignoring First Nation communities who do not want the new pipeline to run through their communities.
The tragic lack of leadership from the Trudeau Federal Government and Notley’s Alberta Provincial Government is mind-boggling. Let’s be honest, Governments investing in the fossil fuel pipeline is a doomed attempt to put the Tar Sands on a life support system. The tragic irony is that the dirty Oil Sands add to the deterioration of our one and only Planet’s life support system and add to the risk of unacceptable toxic bitumen spills. What we desperately need is aggressive government leadership to encourage renewable energy, not life damaging archaic fossil fuel extractions. This is a sad day for Canada, but the big winning fight for a greener future is not over.
