‘I’m in Treaty Territory’ Grandmother tells Winnipeg cop ‘No you’re not’ he says

A Winnipeg Elder wants an apology from the Winnipeg police. That’s because her first ever Jets white-out party turned into a get-out party for her when an officer told her to get off the sidewalk.

A Winnipeg Elder wants an apology from the Winnipeg police.

That’s because her first ever Jets white-out party turned into a get-out party for her.

She got kicked out of Monday night’s revelry for standing on a sidewalk.

When she explained to the Winnipeg police officer that she was on Treaty Territory – he didn’t agree.

  1. WaPo Piesew says:

The reason the assumption of jurisdiction exists and the police bother people is because those treaties were signed by people who became Christians such as Peguis and were no longer “Indians….(People for the state of New York -V- Boots) this is a legal prescedent. Also the “Metis, Louis Real, tried to become a member of the whiteman’s Parliament but was hung by the Crown for rebelling against the white government that proved he and all those who identify as such are classified as inhabitants of the land with limited or no rights at all (international law). You cannot claim any protection from the treaty if you don’t know who you are….It’s not good to claim something when you have no understanding or have done no research re: Treaty ….The province of Manitoba came into being because of ignorant and religious people such as Peguis and Riel….what a mess they made for us Signatory Indians….

  5. I was at one of the Jets Whiteout street parties with my good friend (81 yrs old) and her daughter. We were also told to not stand on the sidewalk. We complied, no issue.

  7. Gma, Elderly or Aboriginal what gives her special privileges to stand on the sidewalk? The barriers around the whiteout street party are set up for reasons. She could of just listen and obeyed the officers but she choose to argue with them and not move like she was asked. She brought the issue on to herself. She;s lucky she didn’t spend the night in jail. No apology should be given,

  8. STOP with saying she was rude, she was not rude. Yes she should have moved out of the way BUT the they did NOT have to treat her the way that they did.

  10. Welp. Smells like another “Flash Mob” coming this way. A Racists No More movement.

  12. I saw a woman get kicked out of the party for standing on the sidewalk. The officer asked her to move and she was rude to him – yelling inappropriate comments so she got kicked out. She was not indigenous so everyone is being treated the same way. You don’t obay the rules, you get kicked out – plan and simple.

    1. Good one US TAX PAYERS need to bend over empty your wallets, You do everyday when you walk in your banks !! Your Government you voted for takes how much of your earnings you work so hard for!! All the little hidden fees in everything you have Banks ,your Power company , Phone company, the list goes on !!!! SO KEEP BENDING OVER you poor tax payer….LMAO

      1. Sounds like you don’t pay taxes and benefit from the rest of the hard working society. You must be proud of yourself.

  13. No full respect from others that came here from other lands yet? They need to be told find some or else learn some better yet teach each other!

    1. Then she breached her treaty obligation.

As per treaty, “They promise and engage that they will in all respects obey and abide by the law; that they will maintain peace and good order between each other, and also between themselves and other tribes of Indians, and between themselves and others of Her Majesty’s subjects, whether Indians or whites, now inhabiting or hereafter to inhabit any part of the said ceded tract,”

She broke the law and did want to obey a peace officer !

  15. Sorry this has nothing to do with race, they tell everyone to stay of the sidewalks in certain areas.
No need to be belligerent and start yelling at police officers, they are there to do a job and keep people in order, not an easy job with 30,000 plus people walking around.
People need to start listening instead of thinking they are above the law.

      1. So what? You are not subject to law? Im in Canada, Im Canadian still have to obey the law . How about concentrating on the massive youth suicides, the disastrous domestic violence in your communities. are Indian Posse and red Alert all good cause they’re on treaty territory ?

  16. It’s at times like this, our warriors must step in and protect the vulnerable , it must be shown we are not gonna take this crap any more, after many years of being treated like crap in our own country by the so called oppresser it w must come to an end, every day I see our people being abused and beaten, and all that is asked for is an apology, where has that gotten us, no where. Let’s get into the faces of these oppressors let’s get onto the streets, roads, railways, gas hydro lines, and show the power of being united and protecting each other and the land

  20. Such a racist place Winnipeg mb esp the Rcmp’s …and so disrespectful to do that to an elder
his mama never taught him any manners I guess esp RESPECT

    1. Police were there for crowd control and were doing their job. They don’t have to explain themselves before doing their jobs. This woman should be ashamed of herself. She brought grief on herself with her shit attitude.

  21. She SHOULD be embarrassed! Claiming ignorance what a joke and then going as far as to play the race card. You got busted breaking the rules now be a grown-up and apologize to the RCMP and the public for wasting their time.

  22. Wpg has a wonderful mayor, great hockey team but please educate those who will be serving as police – don’t let them stay ignorant racists.
