The man accused of committing a triple murder in a Lethbridge townhouse almost three years ago pleaded guilty to three counts of second-degree murder Monday.
Austin Vielle entered the pleas on what was supposed to be the first day of trial and is scheduled to sentenced at a later date. The Crown is seeking a sentence with no chance of parole for 20 years.
For the family, they can’t forget the horrific day of April 28, 2015.
“It really changed our lives you know, especially my daughter Laurie, losing two children at once,” said Wendy English.
English’s two grandchildren Dakota English, 18, and Clarissa English, 24, were murdered, along with Clarissa’s boyfriend Kyle Devine, 27.
Vielle was arrested two weeks later and charged with second-degree murder.
The court heard the victims died of multiple stab wounds.
A search of Vielle’s home found blood stained clothing and shoes. DNA testing matched the blood to the victims.
“Brutally stabbed to death,” said Wendy English.
Vielle says he was intoxicated and can’t remember what happened.
