Critics of John Horgan and his government say the premier has made an error after he announced the Site C dam will be completed.

Jorgan made the announcement Monday in Victoria.

The premier had campaigned in the last election that he would kill the project that some reports suggest is unnecessary.

The cost of the dam has also risen to $10.7 billion.

Reaction to the decision rang across the country.

In Ottawa, Assembly of First Nations National Chief Perry Bellegarde released a statement saying the decision was  “contrary to reconciliation.”

“Today’s decision is disappointing,” said Bellegarde in the statement. “I am confident that First Nations will continue their efforts to stop Site C and the next step will be legal challenges.”
