  1. Lucy says:

That guy will be sentence for life he made the kill with his own hands!!

  2. There is a law in Canada, it is called the Parties Act, it is where all persons who are in the company of a person who kills, they too are as capable as the one who throw it. They all should stand as charged as well.

  4. Second degree murder…he will probably get 8 to 12 years sentenced be out in 4 or 5 years. I’m native and my brother got 9 years for assualt. The justice system is like religion… different standards depending on skin color.

  5. I’m glad to hear the charge has been upgraded.
We were driving through Thunder Bay this summer and were disturbed to hear about this! How horrible for her family.
May she RIP and justice be served.

  8. Its people who think like you that makes our justi
Ce sytem a country for criminals to live. They just get a slap on the wrist. Put the jails back to where the criminals actually hate to end up in. Punish the criminals for what they have done. Life has been taken away. For what reason? What did he get out of it? The question “Why” never seems to get answered. Too many loopholes in our justice system.

  9. People wwho die from smoking relates illness chose to smoke. Barbaara did not go oyt that day and decide to be hit with a trailer hitch

  12. I am happy we live in a country where young people are given a chance to change. We shouldn’t lock him up and throw away the key. He’s a kid who made a terrible choice. And he has to live with himself. I hardly think his intention was to kill. And I think the focus should be rehabilitation. Not just punitive. Just a thought. But eye for and eye, life for a life. I don’t see how that helps anyone. Education, rehabilitation.

    1. How do you know what his intentions were? Can you read minds or his thoughts as he threw that weapon of choice he used to kill his victim. Huh??? Sorry doesn’t cut or his youthfulness. He did it! Plain and simple as that. And he should pay the consequences for murder according to the laws of the land. Period.

    2. How do you know his intentions? Are you a mind reader? The punk threw a hitch at his victim. What don’t you understand about the circumstances as what he did. He wasn’t blind to his own actions. He made a conscious choice to throw that hitch and his actions killed a human being. There’s consequences for the choices people like him make and a wrong choice made to do evil has its due reward. There’s no getting out of it. There’s no…oooops sorry about it. A living soul was taken out that had just as much right to live as he has his chance to live his life but he made a choice and that choice has landed him in where he and his hand took him. Prison. Your bleeding heart for him is just that. Bleeding. Does he deserve a chance to change? He has to decide that for himself and the action he took will either change him for the good or for the bad. Again his choice. But he has to pay for taking a life. And pay he must according to the land.

  13. One is First Nation (the victim) woman the other One is Canadian (accused) man That’s the difference here.. no justice for the race or sex .. more First Nation women have to die till we see justice. They can vote, work, be treated equally but no justice for the grandmothers, granddaughters, wifes, mothers, daughters sisters, nieces .. what goes around will come around.. in the eyes of God ..

  14. We’ve come a long way from “the only good Indian is a dead one”. Teach your children better and let’s hope the justice system reflects social change. RIP Barbra
    Kentner.

  15. This is jus sad that he’s always been getting a slap on the hand .. SICK SICK. shows how messed up the justice system is …

  16. The other people in the vehicle went to the cops and fingered the murderer. They actually helped, since no one got a plate number or even a clear look at anyone in the car in the first place.

  17. I thank the police for catching this person and with the courts for upgrading his charges..will be praying to the good Lord for justice to be served accordingly to all those responsible for her early demise..R.I.P. Barbara ( condolences to her family)

  19. Good…and he should be. What’s happening with the rest of them in the car and why is there no mention of them being charged. Why not? Charge them as well!! This lady did not deserve to have this horrible thing happen to her. Throw the book at all of them!!!

    1. I’m glad that he’s finally been charged. The police would never have found him if the other 3 hadn’t come forward and turned him in. That might be why they didn’t get charged

  25. She didn’t do anything to deserve that assault. If he were MY son I wouldn’t be standing up for him!

    1. i agree with parents like his , that is probably why he did not think of the consequence of his actions , entitled thinking .

  26. Good…and he should be. What’s happening with the rest of them in the car and why is there no mention of them being charged. Why not? Charge them as well!! This lady did not deserve to have this horrible thing happen to her. Throw the book at all of them!!!

  27. Dont let his peers get away either… I remember when aiding and abetting was tacked on to almost anyone standing by and watching anything go down

  28. If it were native people that threw the trailer hitch and killing a white person they’d all be charged with first degree murder. But glad they charged him with second degree murder.

    1. Do you know what constitutes either of those charges? It’s very costly to be ignorant in life, less focus on race more on education.

  29. Well lets see how tough he is now. Hope you enjoy your time. Why hasn’t there been charges laid against the other idiots. Bet they are all crapping their pants.

Glad to see something is being done.

    Miigwetch for the updates!

    1. sorry to hear of her passing…all my condolences to her family, friends and community…Barbara is in the company of her ancestors.
      in Spirit…from Roseland LaBrador

I will say words to the Great Creator for justice for barbaras death for her family.

      1. Yes! My condolences as well to all family involved with having to experience going through something as horrible as this crime.May Barbara rest in peace and her family finds justice for her.

I signed the petition for Barbara’s killer to get justice served to him.

My best regards to the family with much love and concern for you all.

  30. ok the cigarette company’s now can be charged with 2nd degree murder when someone dies from cancer caused by smoking ..great system we have

    1. Are you serious? Do you not understand what happened here? The man deliberately threw a trailer hitch out the window of a moving vehicle with the intent of causing physical harm. He chose his victim because of her ethnicity and sex. He should be getting charged with murder in the first!

    2. Well Chip, people choose to smoke. Barbara Kentner did not choose to be hit with a trailer hitch. This was a planned assault that resulted in the death of a young innocent woman. I think your reasoning needs a little work.
      Robin

  31. As it should be! The people in the vehicle should be charged as well… RIP Barbara Kentner

  32. Let us hope that because of the person murdered, that he doesn’t get off with a wrist slap. This was a premeditated killing and he should be sentenced accordingly. Life sounds about right with No parole for a minimum of 25 years. At least he is alive when his victim is not and she also leaves family whom have to deal with his cowardly act for the rest of their lives, Time to pay with a large portion of his life. Too bad the death penalty is no longer available in Canada.

    1. I was just wondering that, I mean if it was a robbery the driver and passengers would be charge. They all planned this right down to searching for the trailer hitch and anything else and stalking us Indigenous women with the intent to harm and to flee as Hit and Run Drivers do which coincidentally is also a crime …. Just saying :/

    2. No they weren’t. Just Bushby himself. He was arrested this morning and had bail hearing same day. He was released with court conditions.

    3. I don’t think so..but two of them went to police and told them what happened (I think voluntarily, though I could be wrong.) So half the people in the car were not OK with it.

    1. Brayden Bushby should get life. You took this apawn yourself to KILL a mother , daughter , sister , aunt , cousin & friend.
I don’t think your drinking or drugs are an excuse for the life of Barbara Kentner.I really hope that Brayden Bushby gets life without
parole.Brayden I really hope that you really think about what you did taking a young girls mother away.

      1. Even though he says he was under the influence? He was able to use his arm and throw a very heavy piece of metal right at this lady. That was clearly a purposeful action. There is no excuse for this. That was an attempt to murder and he was successful. Life and no parole is what he should get!!!!

      2. I agree too that Brayden Bushby should get life in prison. You took it upon Yourself to take and remove from so many the Life of a Woman who had so many roles in the Lives of others. You did kill a Mother, Daughter, Sister, an Auntie, a Cousin And A Friend and so much more. This Woman who You killed mattered so much. Maybe now You can spend the rest of Your Life thinking and mattering and making some good difference.

    2. Glad the charges are upgraded to 2nd degree murder…tired of indigenous people…(my people)..being treated like animals
