Chief of Ashcroft Indian Band talks about massive fire burning around community

Tina House
APTN National News

At 4,200 hectares, the fire burning around the Ashcroft Indian Band is the second largest in British Columbia.

Across the province, 10,000 people have been chased from their homes from advancing flames.

Hundreds of firefighters are on the ground and are being assisted by Canada’s military.

The Ashcroft community was evacuated on the weekend and the chief joined Tina to talk about what comes next.

Hundreds of people have lost their homes – everything is gone.

The only part of Mae Kirkpatrick’s home that is left is the foundation.
