The National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Girls has released its summer and fall schedule for community visits and public hearings.

The inquiry announced nine community visits starting the end of July and another nine community hearings starting in September.

Families have been putting pressure on the inquiry to be more transparent about what the five commissioners are working on.

Since being announced, the inquiry has only held one series of public hearings.

Marlene Jack’s entire family has been missing since Aug. 1, 1989, from Prince George, BC.

On that fateful day, Ronnie Jack called his mother to tell her that he had gotten a job at a logging camp along with his wife Doreen. His mother says he was excited about the job and told her there was also going to be daycare provided so the entire family would be together.

That was the last time anyone ever heard from them.

“I think this inquiry is very important,” said Jack. “We all, as Canadians, we all called for this inquiry to happen because this is still going on with all of our First Nations women still going missing and a lot of unanswered questions that need to be answered – this inquiry provide some sort of answers for many of us.”

Carter said she hoped to testify at the hearings in Smithers, B.C., the week of Sept. 25.

Why is there only few MEETINGS? Seems like it is going to be a Shame! So many families being left out, no major Cities! Breaks my heart.
