Historic day in Cape Breton as national celebration for renowned poet Rita Joe comes home

It was an historic day for the Mi’kmaq in Cape Breton.

On Wednesday, there was a national tribute for renowned poet Rita Joe.

The Mi’kmaq poet called a gentle warrior died in 2007.

Her legacy and important message around reconciliation lives on.
