28 people facing criminal charges for Labrador occupation make court appearance

Land protectors in Labrador facing charges stemming from a protest at the Muskrat Falls hydroelectric project outside Happy Valley Goose Bay made their first court appearance Tuesday.

Last fall, Innu and Inuit peoples led ongoing opposition to the project over environmental concerns.

They say they’re not criminals, and charges won’t stop Indigenous protests.
