This July will mark ten years since Tim McLean, 22, was beheaded on a Greyhound bus on the prairies.

His killer, Vince Li, was found not criminally responsible in 2009 and has been slowly re-integrated into society.

Two weeks ago, Li, who now goes by the name Will Lee Baker, was granted an absolute discharge.

McLean’s mother, Carol de Delley sat down with APTN National News to share her thoughts on Li and his release.

  1. B Griffiths says:

He should NEVER be let out. What happens if the starts “hearing voices” again? This is despicable.

  2. The justice system is as insane as this criminal. No more hiding behind mental health as an excuse. Bring back the death penalty for senseless acts of murder. Everyone’s safety is at risk now with this criminal back on the streets! Who is the person who allowed his release?! I would question their own sanity!!!

  3. Tim wass my cousin’s son. To listen and see the pain in her eyes as she
speaks of this cruel time in her life cuts us all deeply.
Vince Lee planned and executed Tim before cannibalizing him.
As a society we need to re-think this law, and how we treat mental illness
in our scope of understanding, or should I say how we don’t treat it.

  4. I guess I’m never going to understand this so called justice system. I cannot cannot understand how this happened. Where is it in the books that says this is allowed. Where are those people who made this decision coming from. Seriously. I love you Carol and I’m with you on this one.

    1. I’m disappointed that you allowed her to speak of Tim’s son. I couldn’t finish watching this video because you’re allowing a grandmother to exploit her grandson who isn’t old enough to consent to bring spoken of in the news. Leave this poor child alone Carol. And let him live with his mother and siblings.
