Police continue hunt for convicted rapist who walked away from Kingston facility

Kingston police continue to search for a convicted rapist who walked away from a Kingston halfway house Sunday evening.

David Maracle, 51, is being hunted by Kingston police and the OPP after he left the Henry Train Correctional Facility in Kingston, Ont. Sunday at 8 p.m. and never returned.

Police said Maracle has a long criminal history, including a kidnapping and sexual assault that happened in 1997 when a 14-year-old girl was grabbed at gunpoint on her way to school.

After repeated assaults, the victim was able to escape and get help on the Six Nations reserve.

Maracle is described as First Nation, 5’10”, 200 lbs. with short dark hair. He was last seen wearing green/grey cargo pants, a white T-shirt and dark jacket/sweater.

Police are asking the public to remain vigilant and not to approach Maracle if spotted.
