If you want a little bling, bling…and individuals, the film industry and also retailers donate. One of the retailers donated hundreds of beautiful heels- a range of sizes, it’s incredible.”

Just about everything in the store is donated and then re-sold. They have a bit of everything from high-end designer clothes to menswear.

Tina Lange is a regular donor. , “It’s nice to know that your clothes that you’re giving away or giving to people are being used for good things are going to a good place and helping out people,” she said.

Due to government cutbacks, the organization was forced to come up with nearly half of their annual budget to the tune of $200,000 to keep their programs in operation.

With 37 volunteers working there, My Sisters Closet has become a huge success.

“There is funding that goes to keep our employment program and also our youth ending violence program. Basically all of our programs, it’s sort of a topping up and so all what we provide does get some funding from My Sisters Closet,” said Kerney.

Additionally, the store offers women artisans the opportunity to sell hand made products to generate their own revenue.

  2. This is a really great community for volunteers, creative opportunities (store and window decorating, selling hand made crafts) learning new job skills, ongoing training, and giving back by supporting battered women’s services. Lots of fantastic donations and lovely people to work with. Customers bring in the sunshine every day.
